On July 10th, Africa Research Institute hosted a panel discussion entitled “Participate! Grass-roots democracy & development in Africa’. The event marked the launch of “The Booklovers, The Mayors and The Citizens”, a paper about grass-roots democracy in Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé.

The event was opened by Jules Dumas Nguebou (The Society of Booklovers, Cameroon), who spoke about his work implementing participatory budgeting in Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé. A response was given by David Satterthwaite (IIED).
