Jonathan Bhalla is Research Manager at Africa Research Institute (ARI). He holds a first class BA in Politics from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and an MSc in Violence, Conflict and Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. Jonathan has researched and managed a wide range of articles and publications including Diehards and democracy: Elites, inequality and institutions in African elections, Between extremes: China and Africa and Kenya’s Flying Vegetables: Small farmers and the ‘food miles’ debate. He is co-author of Going Public: How Africa’s integration can work for the poor. Jonathan joined ARI in May 2008.
