Eritrea and Rwanda are among two of Africa’s smallest and poorest states, but they wield disproportionate – and controversial – influence in regional security. How and why do they do this? The Africa Research Institute (ARI), a independent think tank based in London has published a Briefing Note entitled “Princes’ Progress: Reconstruction and authority in Eritrea and Rwanda” which examines the legacies of these two nations and their leaders, our writer Cris Boyd reports.
